Halloween Week
This is a busy week!
First off let me thank Carrillo family for their service to our community in organizing the Zamboree! I know how hard it is to pull off such a huge event! Thank you for all you did for our school.
This week we are starting our study on plants in science! Please look for emails in the next coming week for help in building a mini garden for our class!
In social studies we are looking at Dia de los muertos which will also work with our writing topic this week.
In Math we are focusing on investigations, number sense, graphing and money.
In reading students are working on their individual books as well as we are reading Lighting Thief! The kids are loving the fast-paced, action packed series.
This Friday is the monster mash at 2:15. And please come in at 1:00 for our class Halloween centers. Look at the email I sent for more details.
On Thursday at 2:35 we will honor Daniel.
Last week we honored Sebe! What a treat.

This Week In School
Congratulations to Mrs. Carrillo on the birth of her little boy, Drew Kenneth Michael Zapata. Please send your positive thought to her. Her baby was a bit early, but he is strong.
This week we will work on our scary stories. Students are learning about the story elements in writing and story telling. Students have brainstormed the beginning, middle and ending components of their writing as well as character description, setting and writing about emotions.
In math this week we are working on number of the day, two step story problems, collecting coins, cointing our pockets, and greater or less than.
In Social Studies this week we are looking at the roles in a community, being a part of community, as well as special places we love to visit in our community.
In science, we are playing with wind and air. Students will make various objects that are easily manipulated by air.
In Reading we will wrap up our Bud, not Buddy Book. Students are working on brainstorming what they would place in their own suit case that are a representation of their families and themeselves. Students are also working on either self chosen books or teacher chosen chapter books.
This week we will honor James for our person of the week.
We hope that this blog is helpful to all of you.

Heroes!
Last Friday we had the honor of having our very own heroes come and join us for a young author's sharing of our hero pieces. The students wrote about their grandparents, aunts, uncles, moms, dads, cousins, friends and even a dog. What a great way to help people see how special they are in our lives. Thank you all for being a hero to our young learners.
People of the Week
Recently we have honored students in our classroom community. We have honored our friends Ruby and Parker! We love having these two amazing kids in our class.
